Morni is a village named after a Queen who reigned over the place two thousand years back. It is located about 45 kilometers from Chandigarh and 35 kilometers from Panchkula. Due to its convenient distance from Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab, it is the quick gateway that everyone looks forward to Hills of Morni are known for their flora, lakes, and Himalayan views. It is the perfect combination of history, mountainous scenery, and a pleasant environment. If you are looking forward to enjoying peace of mind in the hills, so this is the place. And guess what? This is budget-friendly too.

Depending on your convenience and comfort level if you want to drive your personal vehicle, use public transport, or want to hire a cab to reach the location. The distance of Morni from Delhi is around 271 km, and it takes around 5-6 hours to reach there.

The best and most convenient way to reach Morni Hills from the city of Chandigarh is by road. Morni Hills is just an hour’s drive away from the city of Chandigarh, and it is easily accessible via roadways buses, private taxis, and cabs. The places covered during this travel from Chandigarh to Morni Hills are Chandigarh to Panchkula which is 12 km from Chandigarh and after that Panchkula to Morni Hills which is 29 km away from Panchkula. Although there is no direct bus from Chandigarh to Morni village there are regular bus services from Panchkula bus Stand which is well connected by local buses to both Chandigarh and Morni hills.

Haryana Roadway provides good connectivity with buses. To Morni, around 8 buses in a day from 7 in the morning to 5 in the evening on a frequent rate on the route. From Panchkula, bus stands the bus ticket fare is around 30 to 40 Rs per person; which is of very less amount when compared to cabs. You can check the timings of buses online or can call the bus stands to know the timings and availability of the buses. To travel by bus, firstly you have to take a bus from Chandigarh to Panchkula and then you have to take the second bus from Panchkula bus stand to Morni Hills.

The cab is the other option you can opt to reach Morni Hills. You can take a cab from the location you want. But it can be a little expensive as they charge somewhere about 2000-2500 Rs for one way journey. If you let the cab go, then you are left with only one option no other than the bus only.

Tikkar Taal in Morni Hills

Tikkar Taal is an adventure park located just before the steep 7 km climb to Morni, which is renovated recently. Tikkar Taal is around 55 km far from Chandigarh, is set up by Haryana Tourism in 2004. Tikkar Tall is around 4 degrees C less than Chandigarh. This adventure park is set up to promote adventure tourism in Shivalik Hills. After being renovated, now it has climbing nets, a small zip line, vertical ropes to walk, and a catwalk.

There is also a bouldering and rappelling area, a rock-climbing area in this adventurous park. There is also a cafeteria with a limited menu of snacks like biscuits, chips, and cold drinks, etc. For the people who are not so adventurous, this park has- a treehouse, a spooky house, water features, a maze, and a park for the children having slides and swings. The fee to enter the park is 50 Rs for adults and 30 Rs for a child.

This place is a good option for people who like budget-friendly trips. There are not that many hotels and resorts present in Tikkar Taal because of its lack of popularity so you can get a room there at cheaper prices. Tikkar Taal is untouched by commercialization so it is the ideal place for peace-loving people.

Gurudwara Nada Sahib Panchkula

It is located at a distance of 7 km from Morni. Gurudwara Nada Sahib is situated on the banks of the Ghaggar River in the foothills of the Shivalik hills. It is a holy place and has a significant meaning for Sikhs as when the tenth Guru of Sikhs Shri Guru Gobind Singh was going to Shri Anandpur Sahib he rested there. Its sacred environment makes it one of the most visited Gurudwara by pilgrims in India. Gurudwara Nada Sahib swaps you into the divine of spirituality and hills will take you to the supreme being.

It is believed that the fort was constructed in the 17th century. The interior of the fort was improved in 1814 when the king of Sirmour can to hide after he was overthrown from the Nahan by Gorkhas. Because of the history of this fort, it attracts a number of history lovers as well. As the fort has been restored for the tourists, but it lost its ancient essence. A temple is present to adjacent of the fort which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Best time to visit Morni Hills

 

Morni Hills situated at the height of 1200mts above sea level, so winter is quite cold and chilly out there. And it is in the lower hills of the Himalayan so the summers are way hot there. So, the best time to go there is winters which begin in the month of October every year. The weather stays nicely pleasant with the little cold out there until the month of April. Summers visits are not recommendable since the summers are way too hot. But I advised you to carry sunscreens and to drink lots of water then nothing will go to stop you from embracing the calmness of Morni Hills.

Since Morni Hills is a tiny hill station, so the options to stay there are very limited as not that many options of hotels and resorts available there. There are only a few beautiful resorts that provide a spectacular panoramic view of the hills that everyone will love. When you go to this awesome place you have the opportunity to chill and do nothing. Just grab a cup of tea or coffee, read your favorite book or novel or just enjoy the beautiful views present in front of you.   • When you are going to visit the adventure park remember to carry some snacks, cold drinks, etc. because there are not many options for food present there.
  • The descent back from Morni hills is a bit steep, so not try to go there after dark and try to avoid being there in a fog because fog can cut the visibility.
  • Avoid driving yourself in the fog because it might be tough to drive in because fay may hinder your vision in the way.
  • Remember to pack some warm clothes like sweaters, jackets as the night and early morning get cold.
  • Remember to take safety gear and follow the maps properly as the place is not much crowded.

Which hill station is better Kasauli Hills or Morni Hills?
