Sukhna Laker

Rock Garden

Rock Garden is located in sector 1 of Chandigarh and it is a massive open-air exhibition hall that shows sculptures made from urban and industrial wastes that have been designed and executed by Nek Chand, a former Road Inspector in the city. This garden is located between Sukhna Lake and the Capitol Building and is a spectacle that is must visit.

Rock Garden is also known as Nek Chand’s Rock Garden, this huge 40-acre garden is a colorful mosaic of art pieces and sculptures. The rock garden is situated at Uttar Marg in Sector1, 1.5 km from Sukhna Lake if you are traveling by cab. Buses and auto rickshaws are also available. The exhibition area of the garden is divided into three different phases that have different types of installations and embellishments in them. Rose Garden

Rose Garden is located in sector 16 of Chandigarh and is a blooming exhibit that showcases more than 800 varieties of flowers and more than 32000 varieties of trees and medical shrubs. Rose Garden is also known as Zakir Hussain Rose Garden after the former president of India. Rose Garden is spread over 30 acres and is decked up with an exquisite variety of flowers making it famous among tourists and nature lovers. The best time to visit the Rose garden is from February to March as the flowers are in full bloom during this period of the year.

The Rose Festival also takes place during these months. Rose Garden is the largest garden of its kind in Adia and was built in the year 1967 under the guidance of the First Chief Commissioner, MS Randhawa.

Chattbir Zoo Zirakpur

Chattbir Zoo also known as Mahendra Choudhary Zoological Park is located in Zirakpur near Chandigarh. The zoo is home to a vast variety of animals, reptiles and birds. Sprawling over an expansive 202 acres of land, Chattbir Zoo offers an open enclosure for the animals to retain their natural habitat environment. The highlight of Chattbir Zoo is Royal Bengal Tiger.

This 505-acre wildlife park is home to animals brought from various parts of the country. Chattbir Zoo is home to more than 1200 creatures that represent more than 100 species. Among the dozens of mammals, you can admire the black buck, white buck, Indian gazelle, Indian elephant, leopard cat,  common leopard lion, Royal Bengal tiger and white tiger. International Dolls Museum

In case, you are tired of exploring run-of-the-mill tourist hubs in the city then you should make your way International Dolls Museum and admire something new. As the name of the place suggests, the place is dedicated to dolls and has a vast collection of hundreds of beautiful puppets and dolls.

There is no doubt that this place is a hit among kids and adults too as this place is quite fascinating. Japanese Garden

Japanese Garden is a recent addition to the list of places to visit in Chandigarh with friends and family. This garden has made a name for itself with its eye-pleasing architecture, undisturbed tranquility and lust green gardens.

While Phase 1 of the project was inaugurated in 2014 and Phase 2 was opened in 2016. The two are connected via an underground tunnel, which in itself is a sight to behold as it is adorned with captivating Japanese paintings. It is truly magnificent and if you are anywhere near the Sector 31 area then you should take some time out and spend a few moments relaxing in the garden.
