As Mussoorie is located in the Himalayas so the only way to reach here is only by road. As there is no direct bus or train. But this is quite simple to reach Mussoorie. Mussoorie is a famous tourist place so it is well connected by road. So, it totally depends on you either you would like to reach here by driving by yourself or want to hire a cab and want to use public transport.
Delhi to Mussoorie distance
Mussoorie is about 290 km to the north of the national capital, Delhi. And, it totally depends on the way you take. It takes an average of 9 to 10 hours from Delhi to reach Mussoorie by road, hilly area, traffic into consideration. You can reach your Mussoorie also by train, and by air.
Delhi to Mussoorie by bus
The bus travel from Delhi to Dehradun costs you around 550 Rs. After reaching Dehradun you can take a bus to Mussoorie or hire a cab to reach Mussoorie. Mussoorie is about 35 km away from Dehradun. It takes around half an hour to two hours to reach Mussoorie from Dehradun which costs you around 50 Rs by bus. And if you hired a cab then it will costs you around 1000 Rs so the choice is yours?

There are many buses available from almost every major city to Mussoorie. You can take luxury buses operated by private companies or state-owned buses of transport corporation. To reach your destination Mussoorie you will have to reach Dehradun first, the capital of Uttarakhand. The distance between Delhi to Dehradun is about 266 km. The minimum time to reach Dehradun from Delhi by bus is around 7-8 hours. Buses from Delhi to Mussoorie are very frequent as there is a regular bus that runs from Delhi ISBT at Kashmiri gate to Dehradun on an hourly basis.
Delhi to Mussoorie by train
The journey from Delhi to Dehradun takes approximately 6 hours, depending on the train. The ticket for the train is not costly it is only around Rs250 and for AC you have to give Rs 550. All the trains mentioned pass through Haridwar.
No direct train is there that can join Mussoorie to Delhi. But many trains are available that connects Dehradun to Delhi like Shatabdi Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, Mussoorie Express, and the Nizamuddin Ac Special. There are also two overnight trains. After reaching Dehradun by train, you have to take a bus or a cab to reach Mussoorie.

Is it safe to drive from Delhi to Mussoorie?
It is totally fine to travel from Delhi to Mussoorie by your vehicle. As this is a hilly area so you should be more careful and alert by the curves of the hills. But in the season of monsoon, you must be more attentive due because of the rain which makes the road more slippery, and fog can hinder the visibility on road. Otherwise, it is totally safe to Mussoorie from Delhi.

Kempty waterfalls
The trip to Mussoorie is incomplete without visiting famous Kempty waterfalls. At a height of almost 1364 meters, this waterfall gives you a spectacular view of the valley around it. This site was developed by a British officer, in 18830 for hosting tea parties, and ever since it has become a popular attraction of Mussoorie especially for picnics. Mall Road, Mussoorie
The Mall Road Mussoorie is the most famous part of Mussoorie. This is the most happening place in the hill station. There are many hotels, restaurants, resorts, shops, cafes. The Mall Road is the best spot to take a stroll or sit and relax. You can visit here any time. There is no entry fee.
Lal Tibba Mussoorie
Lal Tibba is one of the highest viewpoints in Mussoorie. This point is located at an altitude of 2275 meters so you could only imagine the views from here. The meaning of Lal Tibba in English is Red Hill, which is the direct reference to the color of the sky that is visible from here during the sunset or sunrise. In cloudy weather, you will be able to enjoy the views of Bandarpunch, Kedarnath, and Badrinath from here. The telescopes are available at the top of the peak to let you soak in the beauty of it all from close. You can visit here from 6 am to 6 pm. The entry fee to visit here is Rs 50 per person.
Mussoorie Lake
This place is famous among couples and families as a perfect picnic spot. It is located at 6kms Before Mussoorie when you traveled from Dehradun to Mussoorie. You can also enjoy boating here. It opens all days of the week and the entry fees are there to visit.
Cloud’s End Mussoorie
If you are looking for solitude on the trip to Mussoorie then Cloud’s End is the place you should visit. This place is located 6 km from the famous Library Road in Mussoorie. You can reach here by trekking along the Hathipaon Road from the Happy Valley area. This place is surrounded by oak and by Deodar trees. You can the sunrise and sunset with the high on its beauty from here. People who are fond of photography find this place extremely beautiful and full of nature. This place opens all day long. Gun Hill Point Mussoorie
Gun Hill Point is the second highest peak in Mussoorie, it is one of the most famous viewpoints in the area. It is located at a distance of 1.8 km from the Mall Road of Mussoorie. To reach here there is an uphill trek that takes around 20 minutes. From here you can see the beauty of the Doon Valley, Bunderpunch, Gangotri, Srikantha and, Pithwara Himalayan range. This place is open from 10 in the morning to 6 in the evening. There is no entry fee to visit.
Company Garden Mussoorie
It is located at a distance of 3 km from the famous Mall Road of Mussoorie. Company Garden is the perfect place to spend quality time with our friends and family. This place is designed by Dr. H Fackner and now it is maintained by the Garden Welfare Association of Mussoorie.
Snow Adventure Zone
If you want to make your Mussoorie trip an adventurous trip then, you should visit Snow Adventure Park. A government-approved adventure park. You can try zip-lining, Valley crossing and, more adventure activities here. Timings to visit here is from 9.30 am to 7.00 pm. Entry is free here but the adventures are chargeable.

George Everest House
It is located at 6kms from Gandhi Chowk in Mussoorie and one of the major tourist spots in Mussoorie that can you enjoy peacefully. It gives a spectacular view of snow peaks and panoramic views of Doon Valley. It was built in 1832, famously known as Park Estate as well.
Bhatta Falls Mussoorie
This is the best place for a picnic with waterfalls and a small freshwater pond to waddle about. But remember to carry your own drinks, food, and snacks because there is no provision available up there. You can reach here by taking the ropeway from the Bhatta Village to the Falls. Snowfall in Mussoorie is generally in the months of December to January, Mussoorie is a famous destination as the winter retreat of India. Winters are quite cold and chilling. The temperature in winters drops down to the minimum of zero degrees C at night. Days are quite warmer than nights with a temperature of around 10 degrees C. Sometimes roads lead to blocks because of heavy snowfall.
Best time to visit Mussoorie
The best time to visit Mussoorie is from September to November and from March to June. Because rather than this in months of July and August there is monsoon season so the place can experience heavy downpour which can be not that much safe to visit hilly areas as the mountains can be covered with mist and in months of December and January, there can be heavy snowfall which can cause road blockages.
Which is better to visit Nainital or Mussoorie?
Mussoorie is far better than Nainital in terms of weather, pollution, and crowd.
So, in my opinion, Mussoorie is a far better option than Nainital to visit, because the temperature in Mussoorie is quite low than in Nainital. As in the month of June Nainital has a high temperature as compare to Mussoorie. The city of Nainital is too much crowded and polluted because in Nainital there are not that many trees and forests to make the air fresh. The lakes are more polluted in Nainital than Mussoorie.
